360-Degree Video Booth and Earned Media for an FMCG Brand Activation at a Music Festival
At a major brand activation at a music festival, only one metric mattered to an FMCG group: earned media value. The goal was to turn thousands of visitors from passive consumers into active content creators. Traditional photo prints generate no reach on TikTok or Instagram Reels. UpReach installed a 360-degree video booth with fully automated AI editing: slow motion, music sync and a branded intro built straight into the output. The finished video was ready in under 30 seconds — polished enough to be shared organically. The download flow was designed as a qualified data gate: verified email opt-ins that fed directly into the group's CRM.
More than 200 B2B brands from across Europe trust UpReach — from agencies to enterprise corporations.
The initial situation
The festival environment is extremely dynamic. The hardware has to withstand thousands of interactions without long queues forming. At the same time, the output format has to be optimised for short-video platforms (vertical video, 9:16) — both technically and aesthetically.
The central question: how do you get festival visitors to use a campaign hashtag voluntarily and leave their verified contact details at the same time — without interrupting the interaction or losing the visitor?
On top of that, the generated video actually had to be shared. Poor compositing or a visibly automated output drops the willingness to share to zero. The quality bar for the AI editing was directly correlated with the earned media value.
The UpReach solution
UpReach installed a hard-wearing 360-degree platform directly inside the group's brand area. The workflow was tuned for maximum throughput and high-quality output.
A group stepped onto the platform and the camera arm rotated for 5 seconds. The editing software took over immediately: GlamBot slow motion, the licensed campaign track, corporate branding (intro/outro). While the next group was already filming, the previous group scanned the QR code on a separate vyndo touch display. The condition for the video download (data gate): enter an email address, confirm the GDPR opt-in. No second device required.
For the festival setting, with unstable Wi-Fi and heavy load, the group booked the offline mode: the video editing ran directly on the hardware, independent of the network. Capture only happened after consent at the terminal; all data was processed and deleted in line with the group's GDPR requirements.
Setup & Logistics
Six weeks' lead time: 3 weeks for AI editing configuration (calibrating the GlamBot effect, tuning slow-motion timing to festival movement profiles, producing the branded intro, parameterising the music sync), 1 week for interface design and brand adaptation (corporate branding on the output and the QR flow), 1 week for vyndo display integration (live stream of the generated videos as a social wall), 1 week for GDPR sign-off, CRM API testing and an end-to-end run-through.
Transport in a flight case. Set-up by UpReach technicians. The 360-degree platform requires a footprint of at least 3x3 metres — something that must be factored into stand planning. On-site support for the full duration of the festival. Leads flowed into the CRM in real time via REST API.
Remote monitoring through the cloud CMS: session counts, opt-in rate, video rendering status.
Results by the numbers
average social media shares per generated video
GDPR-compliant email opt-ins
video processing and output
The 360-degree booth achieved the highest share rate of any photo or video format ever used at the festival. Every rendered video was shared an average of 3x on social media. The campaign hashtag filled up organically — with no ad budget for social.
At the same time, the data gate generated hundreds of legally sound email opt-ins, transferred straight into the group's CRM via the REST API after the event.
The decisive factor was the quality of the AI output: a photorealistic, professionally cut slow-motion video gets shared on Instagram and TikTok. A visibly automated output does not. The quality bar for the editing was the precondition for the earned media value.
Key takeaways from this setup
Format beats tripod: moving image (360-degree, GlamBot) generates structurally higher organic reach than static photo prints. The share rate is the decisive quality metric for festival setups.
Zero-friction editing: if rendering takes longer than 30 seconds, the user journey breaks down in a festival setting. The offline mode booked for this event — editing directly on the hardware — is the most reliable architecture under festival conditions (unstable Wi-Fi, heavy load).
Data gating works: visitors are willing to hand over contact details — provided the value in return (the video) is exclusive and high enough in quality. The correlation between output quality and opt-in rate is directly measurable.
Footprint planning is not optional: the 360-degree platform needs 3x3 metres. Anyone who fails to plan for that space gets a result below its potential — tight shots with little room to move lower the share rate.
