Custom-Build Photo Station for the Beck's Visitor Centre

Beck's wanted a brand activation for the visitor centre at the Bremen brewery that does not come off the shelf. UpReach developed a custom-build photo station in anodised Beck's green with exclusively curated AI brand worlds. The result: a permanent tour highlight that extends the brewery story technologically — not a white-label setup, but an architectural extension of the visitor centre in the brand's corporate design.

More than 200 B2B brands from across Europe trust UpReach — from agencies to enterprise corporations.

The initial situation

The visitor centre at the Bremen brewery is a central touchpoint for premium guests, international distributors and consumer tours. A standard photo booth from the rental catalogue would have contradicted the architectural standard of the centre — it would have been perceived as a foreign body in the carefully curated brand space.

The requirement was correspondingly specific: the hardware had to be embedded into the interior design of the tour route in form factor, materiality and colour. Generic full cladding or wraps on standard columns were ruled out — the terminal was to read as a designed piece of furniture, not a borrowed activation surface.

On the software side, the interface had to extend the tour's narrative arc: no generic photo-booth filters, but exclusive themes, overlays and backgrounds designed directly from the Beck's brand world. The result had to work as a photo keepsake that visitors take and share voluntarily — not as an arbitrary selfie output.

The UpReach solution

UpReach developed a full custom build on the basis of the UpReach Pro V1 platform. The metal construction was manufactured to our own specification and anodised in Beck's green — a surface treatment that embeds the colour permanently into the material and resists abrasion, UV radiation and cleaning chemicals.

The software UI was designed from the ground up in the Beck's corporate identity. Standby screen, operating guidance, preview surface and branding footer ran in the brewery's brand typography and colour system. Generic UpReach markings were not present in the visitor's line of sight.

The AI engine offered exclusive themes and overlays curated solely for this setup: brand worlds from the brewery's visual universe, designed as backgrounds into which visitors were integrated in real time via AI background removal. For the fair, the offline mode was booked: the AI processing ran directly on the terminal, independent of the fair Wi-Fi. Capture only happened after consent at the terminal, GDPR-compliant.

Visitors received their photo by QR code on the smartphone and could share it directly — as a digital keepsake from the tour experience. More on the platform used: /produkte/pro-v1.

Setup & Logistics

Eight weeks' lead time: 3 weeks for the bespoke metal construction and anodising in Beck's green (CAD design, manufacturing to specification, quality control of the surface coating), 3 weeks for UI development in the Beck's corporate identity including the design of the exclusive AI brand worlds and overlays, 2 weeks for architectural integration into the tour area and a final compliance review with the brewery's data protection officer.

Delivery and set-up were carried out by the UpReach technician team directly in the visitor centre. Camera calibration to the lighting conditions of the tour area, and a briefing of the brewery tour staff on kiosk-mode operation.

The terminal has since run in kiosk mode with no operating surface for visitors and no maintenance intervention by tour guides. Software updates and AI model updates are pushed over the air from the cloud CMS — outside opening hours, with no downtime during visitor operation.

The custom build achieved the architectural effect Beck's wanted: the terminal reads as an integral part of the tour route, not a bought-in activation surface. Tour guests experience the photo activity as part of the brewery narrative — a key difference from pop-up setups that are recognisable as an external marketing measure.

The exclusively curated AI brand worlds lift the output above generic selfie quality. The image on the visitor's smartphone is a composition visibly connected to the brand, which makes its way organically into social media feeds — extending the tour's reach beyond the physical visit.

The anodised metal construction is built for continuous operation in a premium tour setting: no fading of the brand colour, no micro-scratches from daily cleaning, no visible material fatigue in the guests' line of sight.

Key takeaways from this setup

A custom build pays off at premium touchpoints: for high-frequency standard activations, the UpReach Pro V1 production version is the more economical choice. In architecturally curated brand spaces — visitor centres, brand flagship stores, tour routes — the custom build beats the standard housing, because otherwise the terminal is experienced as a visual break.

Anodising is the right answer to continuous operation with a colour requirement: wraps work for event activations with a defined end date. For permanent premium installations with daily cleaning, anodising is the only surface that holds the brand colour stable over years.

Exclusively curated AI content makes a measurable difference: generic photo-booth backgrounds are available in any standard software. Themes and overlays designed solely for one setup create a visual recognition value that keeps the brand present in the photo output beyond pure logo placement.
