POS Omnichannel Setup: Photo Booth, Digital Signage and Gamification

Bricks-and-mortar retail is fighting for footfall. A photo booth alone is no longer enough to attract passing customers, hold them and convert them into CRM contacts. It takes a connected omnichannel architecture. This case bundles the insights from several POS setups for retail brands in the beauty, wellness and toy segments. It shows how the interplay of UpReach photo booth (interaction), vyndo digital signage (visibility) and CUBE gamification (conversion) turns the point of sale into a structured lead-generation machine.

More than 200 B2B brands from across Europe trust UpReach — from agencies to enterprise corporations.

The initial situation

Store managers have three core operational problems: limited space (every square metre has to generate revenue), no dedicated staff to look after event setups, and a low conversion rate in lead capture (customers do not leave their email address without a relevant value in return).

The problem with isolated single solutions: a photo booth that simply stands in the middle of the store, without being visible from outside, attracts no passing customers. Gamification with no photo-booth output has no emotional anchor. Digital signage with no back-end connection only shows generic content.

The challenge was to connect these three elements in a closed workflow: visibility from outside → interaction in the store → lead capture — with no device switch, no media breaks and no IT staff.

The UpReach solution

The omnichannel setup combines three Lumynos Labs product lines in an API-connected workflow.

Touchpoint 1 — visibility: a vyndo digital signage display in the shop window or entrance area shows a live stream of the user photos generated in the store. Passers-by see themselves and other people on a large format — a FOMO effect that pulls into the store more strongly than any sale poster.

Touchpoint 2 — interaction: an UpReach Compact terminal stands in the entrance area (footprint under 1 m²). Customers photograph themselves with digital beauty filters or product overlays in the corporate design. The generated photo appears immediately on the vyndo social wall.

Touchpoint 3 — conversion: after the photo, the terminal prompts the customer to save the photo. The mechanism: scan a QR code, play the CUBE digital scratch card, win a discount code. The condition for the prize (data gate): enter an email address, confirm a newsletter opt-in.

The entire setup runs through a shared API architecture and a central cloud CMS.

Setup & Logistics

Five to six weeks' lead time: 2 weeks for API integration (UpReach photo booth → vyndo digital signage live stream, UpReach → CUBE data-gate connection, CUBE → CRM REST API), 2 weeks for interface design and brand adaptation (the retailer corporate identity identical across all three output channels), 1 to 2 weeks for set-up coordination, camera calibration to store lighting conditions and autonomous kiosk-mode parameterisation.

Transport in a flight case. Set-up by an UpReach technician. Briefing of the store management on the cloud CMS (campaign monitoring, content adjustments remote). Store staff have no technical tasks.

Remote management: all three system components are controlled through the same cloud CMS — one configuration for photo booth, digital signage and gamification at the same time.

Results by the numbers

The figures from several retail setups prove the flywheel effect: a beauty retailer achieved 200,000 gamification sessions with a return rate of 4.2 sessions per user. A wellness brand captured 749 qualified newsletter leads in 4 days. A toy manufacturer generated 3,167 sessions across a 4-month campaign — with no hardware terminal.

The decisive difference from isolated single solutions is the way the three reinforce one another: the vyndo display in the shop window is the traffic bringer. The UpReach terminal is the interaction anchor. The CUBE data gate is the conversion driver. All three elements reinforce one another.

The cloud CMS management of all three components from one dashboard is the operational advantage: a store manager configures the campaign once — all three touchpoints are updated at the same time.

Key takeaways from this setup

The social wall is the footfall bringer: a vyndo display in the shop window showing live photos from the store works more strongly than any promotional sign. Passers-by see other people in the store and become curious.

Gamification doubles the lead-capture rate: users decline forms, but they enjoy playing. The digital scratch card as a mechanism doubles the opt-in rate compared with a direct newsletter prompt, because the value in return is visible.

No IT overhead: retail staff have no time for technical tasks. The three systems have to run fully autonomously in kiosk mode and be maintainable remotely from the cloud CMS.

Offline-to-online tracking: personalised gamification discount codes redeemed in the web shop enable precise tracking of the offline store's contribution to online revenue.
